Plant origin
Peanuts are leguminous crops, one of the main varieties of high-quality edible oil, also known as "peanuts" or "eternal fruit". Groundnut is an annual herb. Originated in tropical and subtropical regions of South America. It was introduced to China in the 16th century and developed in the late 19th century. Since the 1950s, carbonized peanut seeds have been unearthed twice in China, providing physical data of peanuts that existed as far back as the Neolithic Age. Therefore, the origin of peanuts, still need to be explored. As for the origin of peanuts, the literature records the origin of Brazil, China, Egypt and other three statements. According to Brukill (A. Dictionary of the Economic Products of the Malay Peninsula, 206. 1966), Columbus discovered America in 1492, and soon after, The Spanish sent Oviedo to Haiti as prefect of the Administration of Resources; Ovido was in Haiti from 1513 to 1524. He recorded that peanuts were being grown in large quantities in Indian gardens at that time. Linnaeus's Flora (1753) records that peanuts are native to Brazil, Peru Hutchinson (Evolution and Phylogeny of Flowering Plants, 1964) records that peanuts are native to tropical America. According to J. C. Willis, A Dictionary of Flowering Plants and Ferns, 8 ed. 1973: There are 15 species of peanuts, which are found in Brazil and Paraguay. It can be seen that peanuts originated in Brazil in South America is more credible. In China, Shandong grows best. It is now widely cultivated all over the world.
