and spring-sown areas (in the north), with the specific distribution as follows:
Autumn sowing area in the south (sowing from September to November and harvesting in the following spring and
summer)
The Yangtze River Basin
Sichuan: The main production areas are in the western Sichuan Plain (Chengdu, Meishan) and southern Sichuan
(Zigong, Leshan), and it is famous for "Sichuan small green beans", which are mostly used to make broad bean paste.
Yunnan: In the central part of Yunnan (Kunming, Yuxi) and the western part (Dali, Baoshan), the broad beans in Yunn
an are large and plump, and can be eaten fresh or processed.
In Jiangsu Province, the "big white-skinned broad beans" from Nantong and Qidong are of excellent quality and are oft
en used for export and snack processing.
In Zhejiang Province, "Cixi Big White Broad Beans" from Cixi and Yuyao are traditional local specialties, suitable for bo
iling or frying.
South China region
Fujian and Guangxi: The planting area is relatively small, mainly for fresh consumption, and sowing is done in winter.
